Brand Sustainability Score: What We're Improving & Why

Transparency isn't just a buzzword. It's our baseline. At Samson Mwita, sustainability isn’t an afterthought; it’s woven into every decision we make.


♻️ Our Current Carbon Footprint

From 9th June 2024 to 30th November 2024, our total emissions measured 87 kg of CO₂, equivalent to the CO₂ absorbed by 14 trees in a year or driving 415 km in a petrol car.

🧾 Breakdown by Impact

  • Marketing – 42 kg CO₂ (48%)

  • Software & IT Costs – 24 kg CO₂ (27%)

  • Operational Equipment – 15 kg CO₂ (17%)

  • Professional Fees – 7 kg CO₂ (8%)

We use this data to constantly refine where we spend, how we operate, and how to reduce further.


🌱 Our Positive Impact (So Far)

  • 1.511 tonnes of CO₂ offset

  • 106 trees planted

  • 181 plastic bottles rescued

  • 200 bees protected

  • 19 kelp planted

  • 10 days of clean water supplied

  • 12 months Earth Positive and counting


From Plastic-Free to Purposeful

We’re actively reducing single-use plastics by opting for:

  • 100% recycled mailers

  • Compostable inner wraps

  • Minimalist packaging design to cut bulk waste


Materials: Thoughtful from Thread to Finish

Every SM piece is chosen with care:

  • Cotton from certified ethical mills

  • Limited-run fabrics to avoid overproduction

  • Mulberry silk blends requiring less water than conventional cotton

  • Sorona reducing our reliance on fossil fuels compared to traditional synthetic fibres 

Production: Made-to-Order, Made-to-Last

Our garments are custom-made when ordered to:

  • Reduce inventory waste

  • Avoid deadstock dumping

  • Support conscious consumption


Offsets & What’s Next

We’re exploring:

  • More fabric innovation trials in 2025
